TVNZ coverage of our launch

A group on Waiheke Island, located in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf, is pushing for it to become the world's first residential island to have only electric vehicles. The aim is to have zero emissions by 2030 - and yes, visitors will be expected to climb on board too.

Max Parkin, part of the group Electric Island, said: "On the island, you can do a maximum of 40-50km and you have gone around to the start again. Therefore, to have these small-range EVs are something we want to encourage".
